What Causes Foot & Ankle Pain?
Our feet and ankles are remarkable pieces of engineering. Their intricate internal structures are designed to fulfil three major jobs.
The first is creating a stable base for an upright posture; the second is allowing movement across even and uneven terrain; and the third is providing shock absorption.
The most common causes of foot and ankle pain in our patients are from injuries resulting from overuse, strains, and sprains.
These injuries may result from things like prolonged training, a trip, heavy impact, running/walking on hard surfaces, over-striding, running downhill, or simply wearing the wrong type of footwear.
Equally, feet and ankle injuries can occur through a lack of flexibility, muscle weakness, poor posture, or misalignment.
