Ben Wilkinson, Co-founder, Principal Osteopath
Ben is one of the Directors of Origin Health.
Ben graduated from European School of Osteopathy with a Masters in Osteopathy in 2015. He is a General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) registered osteopath and member of The Institute of Osteopathy (formerly The British Osteopathic Association).
Ben’s clients range from elite athletes to largely desk-bound professionals, children, and (of course) weekend warriors.
His wealth of experience as an osteopathic practitioner, and as a sportsperson, enables him to give his patients the best available recommendations and treatment.
Ben tailors his approach to each of his patients, treating them as individuals not injuries. He uses diagnostic osteopathic techniques to accurately identify the underlying issues, and uses soft tissue techniques, manipulation, dry needling, shockwave therapy, cranial osteopathy, and rehabilitation advice, to provide outstanding levels of care and support.
Sports Career
Ben started out as a professional yachtsman, however, a serious back injury introduced him to the benefits of osteopathy and he became fascinated with the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Although he returned to the ocean, he soon realised he wanted to help people just as he had been helped. As a result, he decided to return to the UK to study as an osteopath.
While studying, he played rugby to a semi-professional level before a shoulder injury forced him to retire. The experience gave him great insight into sports injuries and the impact these can have on life outside sport.
He remains an active sports person, as a competitive rower with his brother. And he is an official osteopath to Gloucester Rugby Club.
Dan Wilkinson, Co-founder, Principal Osteopath
Dan is one of the Directors of Origin Health.
He has more than 10 years’ experience as an osteopath, treating professional and elite athletes, recreational sportspeople and the general public.
Dan uses a tailored treatment approach, designed to target the root causes of clients’ issues, not just the symptoms.
He uses traditional osteopathic techniques such as soft tissue massage, articulation, stretching and joint manipulation, but he is also skilled in more modern techniques such as kinesio taping, shockwave therapy, dry needling, as well as exercise rehabilitation.
He works closely with other healthcare practitioners at Origin Heath to provide the highest level of care and help get clients back to their best as quickly as possible.
Sports Career
His experience playing rugby to a semi-professional level fuelled both his passion for working with elite athletes – alongside his brother Ben, he is one of the official osteopaths to Gloucester Rugby Club – and his love of watching rugby.
He is also a keen rower, loving a beautiful morning out on the River Avon as much as he enjoys competing with his brother and crew mates.
